How fast can you install?

How long does the install take?

Most window installs are done in 15 minutes. PTAC swaps take 20–30. We text 30 minutes before arrival so you don't sit around.

What if my building requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?

We issue COIs in under an hour during business hours for $19. If your building is in our database, the form pre-fills. We email it to your building's management with read receipt and copy you.

Can you install in a 5th-floor walk-up?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we add a small transport fee ($20/$40/$60) depending on flights so we can pay our installers fairly. The fee is shown upfront, never sprung at checkout.

How do I know what BTU I need?

Tap the BTU calculator — tell us your room's square footage and we'll recommend two units. Or use the rough rule: 20 BTU per square foot, +10% for high ceilings, +4,000 for kitchens.

What if my windows are casement (crank-open) or sliders?

Standard window ACs won't fit — but our Portable 12K is built for exactly this. It vents through any window type with a universal kit, and rolls between rooms.

Are your ACs energy efficient?

Our 8K, 10K, 12K Frostline and Midea U-shape units are Energy Star certified. The Midea U-shape draws about 35% less power than equivalent fixed-speed units.

What's included in the rental price?

Delivery, professional install, warranty for the entire rental, customer support, and pickup in October. No fuel surcharge, no surprise removal fee, no trip fee.

Monthly vs. seasonal — which should I pick?

Seasonal saves about 15% if you'll keep the unit from May to September. Monthly is right for subletters, short-term tenants, or anyone moving mid-summer.

What's your refund policy?

Cancel within 24h of confirmation for a full refund. Cancel before install day for a full refund minus a $25 dispatch fee. Once installed, rental fees are prorated; install labor is not refunded.

When do you pick up the unit?

October by default — exact date is yours to pick during booking. We can also do an earlier removal if your lease ends or you're traveling. No extra fee for the pickup.

Can you store my own unit for the winter?

Yes — $8/month for off-site climate-controlled storage. Free pickup in October, free re-install in May. Capacity is limited in our first season; book at install time to reserve a spot.

What's the window safety bar about?

NYC Local Law 57 requires window guards in apartments where a child age 10 or younger lives. The law allows a safety bar in place of a guard when an AC is installed. We check the box during booking and add it ($50) automatically when required.

What is Cool Homes for All?

Accepted Answer

A NYC law that requires landlords to provide functioning AC to tenants who request it. Opt-in begins March 2028; full enforcement 2030, with fines up to $1,250 per day. We run a turn-key compliance program for landlords — see /buildings.
